This is only the beginning: we will write a new chapter and leave no one behind

This is a new chapter through which we will give Malta and Gozo A Fresh Start. The PN’s proposals have thrown the Labour Party into panic, and this is only the beginning. We still have many more proposals to announce, and I am determined to implement them. Because we do not want to leave anyone behind.

This is a new chapter through which we will give Malta and Gozo A Fresh Start. The PN’s proposals have thrown the Labour Party into panic, and this is only the beginning. We still have many more proposals to announce, and I am determined to implement them. Because we do not want to leave anyone behind.

During an event in Luqa with the PN candidates on the sixth district, as part of the campaign themed A Fresh Start, Alex Borg said that from the very start of the campaign, the Partit Nazzjonalista began presenting a long list of strong and visionary measures, without spending €5 million as others did on Malta Vision 2050, and without consulting criminals, as others have said. He said that the heart of the Partit Nazzjonalista is with the people, and that it is working for them every day.

Alex Borg spoke about the PN’s team of candidates and said he is proud to have a strong and energetic team with whom he wants to continue working in government.

Alex Borg said that the Partit Nazzjonalista wanted to show immediately what vision it has, and it started precisely with health because a Nationalist Government wants to invest in people’s health first and foremost. He said that the PN’s health proposals were very well received by the doctors’ and nurses’ associations.

A Nationalist Government will think of people when it reduces electricity bills. When the PN announced this proposal, panic broke out within the Labour Party, which ended up confused, while the PN continues to show how prepared it is.

Alex Borg said that the money to reduce bills will come from clean energy generated by solar panels. But a Nationalist Government will not act like Labour, which for years left solar panels disconnected from the grid.

He mentioned how a Nationalist Government will remove succession tax — an unjust tax whose time has passed — so that people are not burdened with additional pressures. He also referred to the revision of tax bands, a measure that will give workers breathing space and leave more money in their pockets.

The Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista said that small businesses and micro-enterprises, which make up 99% of our businesses, will pay less tax under a Nationalist Government, as announced in this morning’s proposals.

Alex Borg said that a Nationalist Government will once again invest fully in quality niches that do not place pressure on people, but instead open the doors to opportunities, such as AI, Data and New Space, the Creative Economy, and the Mediterranean Maritime Fuel Hub.

He recalled how Robert Abela threw mud at him but was not capable of going to the Police with a report about the “smuggler” he claimed had spoken to him. He referred to Abela’s reply to journalists, where he said that he would reveal the identity of the smuggler when the PN says who the experts helping it are. Alex Borg said that he will not reveal any names because he will not allow Robert Abela to carry out a witch-hunt against those working to bring A Fresh Start to our country.

Alex Borg said that the Partit Nazzjonalista is working and will continue working until the very last minute, but this work must be united, with the people, and with all those who believe that together we can bring A Fresh Start to the Maltese and Gozitan people.

He saluted all those who have served the Party and the country from the Sixth District, as well as Ryan Callus who, despite having ended his political career, is still working with all his strength to give our country A Fresh Start.

The event was also addressed by the PN candidates on the Sixth District, which includes Ħal Qormi, Siġġiewi, Ħal Luqa and Ħal Farruġ.

Fredrick Aquilina said that from a young age he was involved in village organisations, and this instilled in him the will to serve. This is what led him to take his first steps in politics. He said that the most beautiful part of politics is contact with people. He mentioned how the proposals of the Partit Nazzjonalista are being very well received by people. These are visionary proposals, as the Partit Nazzjonalista has always had. He said that this is the difference between the two parties and that is why today our country needs A Fresh Start — it needs a Prime Minister who knows where he wants to take our country. It needs Alex Borg as Prime Minister.

Julian Borg spoke about electricity bills. He said that these are not just numbers, but something that affects everyone every day — families, organisations, farmers and livestock breeders. The Partit Nazzjonalista is promising to remove electricity meter rental fees from every residence. Today we have a situation where, before using the first unit, people have already paid the rental fee. He recalled how a Nationalist Government will increase to 6,000 the units paid at the cheapest rate, and how a Nationalist Government will ease the burden on those living alone by giving them more units to benefit from the eco-reduction. He also recalled the reductions that farmers, livestock breeders and voluntary organisations will benefit from. This is the Partit Nazzjonalista, Julian Borg concluded — a Party giving A Fresh Start to the whole people.

Jerome Caruana Cilia said that over the past four years he had the privilege of serving the country and the people, and throughout these years he remained in constant contact with people. He said that he used his time in Parliament to ask about issues that affect people in their everyday lives. But he also spoke about national issues, including the case of Jean Paul Sofia, where together with the PN MPs he fought for justice. Now the PN is presenting itself before the people with a long list of proposals — proposals that seek to give people a better life. Among them is the removal of an unjust tax — succession tax. He said that a Government led by Alex Borg will always remain on your side and on the side of your loved ones.

Annabelle Cilia said that she believes in politics that brings people together and politics that looks ahead. A united team, with different ideas but with one vision, is what makes the Partit Nazzjonalista team strong. A team built around people and united behind PN Leader Alex Borg. She said that the PN is not only speaking about proposals, but about solutions. Politics is not measured by beautiful words, but by how much good it does for people. The proposal to remove tax on overtime and part-time work is a proposal that does good for people, just as the Child Trust Fund proposal does good, as does the proposal to increase student stipends and the National Hall proposal as part of the Creative Economy. She concluded by saying that together we can offer this country A Fresh Start.

Oliver Cini said that politics is a service, and that one can only succeed if one has the support of those around him. But when through politics you make a difference in people’s lives, that is the greatest satisfaction. The Mediterranean Maritime Fuel Hub project will not only remove the tanker from Marsaxlokk Bay, but will also attract to our country a strong economic niche that will generate millions for many years. This is only one proposal from a long list that the Partit Nazzjonalista has, and with the strength of all the candidates and the strength of the people, after 30 May, together, we will give Malta and Gozo the Fresh Start they deserve.

George Muscat said that he is in politics to listen, understand and act. Through his studies, he has further understood how important it is to invest in people and in education, as the Partit Nazzjonalista has always done. He said that he understands the challenges many people are facing and that he believes in politics that places the person at the centre. He said he believes in a country that invests in everyone, and where no one is left out. He said he does not have all the answers, but he will work with Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg to give the Maltese and Gozitan people the country they deserve.

George Vital Zammit said that it is an honour and a source of satisfaction for him to see the proposals of the Partit Nazzjonalista being announced after having seen them being drawn up. These are proposals that seek to place the person back at the centre. “We are leading the agenda and there is still much more to announce,” he said. He said that when he was drafting the electoral programme, he thought his contribution would end there, but he decided to answer Alex Borg’s call to serve the Party and the country. He said he accepted this invitation for two reasons: first, to see this programme implemented, and second, because he wants to work with Alex Borg as Prime Minister. He said that over the past month he has seen a Leader who is a statesman of the future. He concluded by saying that there are 22 days of work left so that, on 30 May, together we give our country A Fresh Start.
