Huwa paThe Nationalist Party (‘PN’) is a Maltese political party that operates in both Malta and Gozo. It is part of the largest political family in the European Union, the European People’s Party (EPP), which brings together similar parties from across Europe.
The PN is a party that places people at the centre of everything it does. Its aim is to work for the common and greater good of all Maltese and Gozitans, while always respecting and safeguarding the dignity of every individual.
The Party’s main goal is to promote the country’s development in the most complete, fair, democratic, and sustainable way, for the benefit of everyone, while protecting and upholding the common good and ensuring full respect for the Rule of Law.
At the heart of the party’s mission is the well-being of all. This is pursued with full respect for the value and rights of human life in its entirety, together with each person’s full dignity. The party also promotes a sense of unity amongst all, where we are all part of one humanity that is made up of a diversity of cultures.
The Party sees politics as a high calling and a commitment to serve in good faith in the interest of the people, and as a useful and practical tool in everyday life for those challenges people face.
In its work, the Party seeks for the State to be the servant of its people. This should be achieved by ensuring that decisions are taken transparently and as close as possible to the people, according to the principle of subsidiarity, with the active participation of every citizen.
The Party strongly believes that in a globalised world, solidarity is the main safeguard to ensure that no one is left behind in the process of economic, social, and environmental development, as well as in the services provided by the State, while continuing to ensure that future generations enjoy the highest level of well-being.
For this reason, its role in modernising our country stands out. The great, collective achievements of Independence and full membership in the European Union family are amongst the greatest Maltese historical milestones that have shaped us into a sovereign, modern, and European nation.
While embracing an increasingly pluralistic and multicultural society, the Party believes in an inclusive society where unity is fostered through a culture of dialogue, respect for diversity of views and beliefs, and where all forms of hatred, discrimination and violence are totally opposed.
The Party considers the world to be our shared home and that of future generations.
For this reason, the PN believes that the best way to improve everyone’s quality of life is by giving priority to the protection and promotion of the environment, natural resources, common goods, and public spaces. The environment around us is a fundamental part of the heritage we share as humanity. In this context, the PN places great importance on climate change, environmental justice, and responsibility towards present and future generations.
The Party upholds these principles and commits itself to working diligently so that:
