To ensure that tomorrow’s workforce is prepared for the ever-changing world of work, we must invest today in skills training, Artificial Intelligence and education.

During a meeting with Malta Employers, Leader of the Opposition and the Partit Nazzjonalista Alex Borg said that we cannot discuss the future of work without addressing how we intend to prepare for it. He stressed that education must be geared towards preparing students for the jobs of the future.

Alex Borg also spoke about productivity and how to ensure its growth, infrastructure that is struggling to cope, and the urgent need for a mass transport system that serves the public and eases the burden of traffic congestion, which is also taking its toll on businesses.

For its part, the Association also emphasised the need for a long-term transport plan agreed upon by both political parties, and stressed that its implementation should begin without delay. It also highlighted the importance of ensuring that economic figures and growth translate into a better quality of life, as well as the need for good governance.

The meeting, which formed part of a series of consultations being held by the Partit Nazzjonalista with social partners ahead of the forthcoming budget, took place at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition in Valletta.

Also present at the meeting were Shadow Minister for the Economy, Technology and Strategic Projects Darren Carabott; Shadow Minister for the Self-Employed, Small Enterprises and Cooperatives Michael Piccinino; and Spokesperson for Employment Annabelle Cilia.
