We are determined that together, as a team, we will deliver A Fresh Start in every locality across Malta and Gozo. We are prepared to lead our country forward.

During a political activity in Għargħur in the presence of PN candidates on the Ninth District, Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista Alex Borg said that already in the first days of the campaign it is becoming clear that we have a Government that is unable to distinguish between government and party, and which continues to use public funds for Labour propaganda. Alex Borg said that the Labour Party’s media is carrying out a negative campaign of attacks against him and PN candidates because they believe people still want this type of politics.

The Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista recalled how both the President of Labour and Robert Abela’s Deputy Leader had recently denied that an election was imminent. Days later, Robert Abela announced an early election under the excuse of the geopolitical situation. Alex Borg said that no other government around the world has called an early election for such a reason – only Robert Abela did so.

The Leader of the PN said that the real reason Robert Abela called an early election is simply because he saw that the Partit Nazzjonalista continues to grow stronger day by day. He said that the strong team of Partit Nazzjonalista candidates, together with the encouragement he is receiving from the people he meets, are strengthening his determination to work tirelessly so that on 30 May the Partit Nazzjonalista delivers A Fresh Start to this country.

During this activity, interventions were made by the Nationalist candidates contesting the Ninth District, which includes Għargħur, Msida, Swatar, Tal-Pietà, San Ġwann, Kappara, Swieqi, Madliena and Ta’ Xbiex.

Graziella Attard Previ said she has always considered politics as an opportunity to serve. She stated that she believes our country has the obligation to offer equal opportunities for all. Graziella Attard Previ also spoke about public broadcasting, stating that it has the duty to provide the public with balanced and factual reporting – something which often does not happen. She thanked everyone who has trusted her in the past and said that if she is once again given the people’s trust, she will continue to work tirelessly to improve people’s lives.

Graham Bencini said that the Government has often boasted of a strong economy, yet we know how many people are at risk of poverty. The Government often uses the rhetoric that pensioners are living their best years, but does not mention that 30% of our elderly are at risk of poverty. It boasts about quality of life, yet we experience traffic and pollution daily. The time has come for a choice – on one side Robert Abela, who says one thing and does another, and on the other Alex Borg, who can be an energetic Prime Minister capable of changing the direction of our country.

Eve Borg Bonello said that over these four years she has had the privilege of representing the people in Parliament. She said she has given her full energy and is asking for support to continue the work she started, but this time in Government. She expressed her conviction that together we can deliver A Fresh Start to Malta with a better environment, adding that the Partit Nazzjonalista can deliver this Fresh Start.

Albert Buttigieg said that Labour’s slogan reminds many of the hopes people have – that wealth is shared fairly, that the environment becomes a reality and not just billboards, and that people no longer spend hours stuck in traffic. But many also understand that while Labour failed to deliver these things, the Partit Nazzjonalista can truly be the Fresh Start the country needs. He appealed for people’s trust so he can continue representing them in Parliament and continue his work.

Marilena Gauci, a new Partit Nazzjonalista candidate, said it is an honour for her to contest in her home district. She said she wants to play her part to ensure that our country continues to defend its values and deliver A Fresh Start to workers, families, the elderly and young people. She added that the Partit Nazzjonalista wants to offer every Maltese and Gozitan a better life in our country – one that others can look up to.

Beppe Fenech Adami said it is an honour for him to contest on this district. He said that the first days of the campaign are already showing the difference between the two parties. While the Partit Nazzjonalista presented a clear vision for people’s health, Labour chose to criticise it – after leaving healthcare in a dire state over 13 years. He said this is the moment – the chance to change the direction of the country, to move away from mediocrity and build a better Malta.

Joe Giglio thanked those present for the enthusiastic meeting, saying it gives candidates courage. He said this enthusiasm is the result of Alex Borg’s work and energy as Leader – a Leader working tirelessly to deliver A Fresh Start for young people, families and the elderly. He added that this energy is motivating candidates with the drive and courage to change the country together and give people a better life in Malta.

Jonathan Muscat, a new PN candidate, said he comes from a generation that remembers the difficult times of the 1980s, the renewal of the 1990s, and the wind of change that led to EU membership. He said that today the time has come once again to change direction, which is why he accepted Alex Borg’s invitation to contest the general election. He appealed for everyone to play their part so that on 30 May Malta can move towards a better future.

Noel Muscat said that our country needs A Fresh Start. He said this is the moment for renewal in the environment, which has been damaged in recent years, for local councils that have been sidelined, for the elderly who are feeling the burden, and for young people who are losing hope. He said that under Alex Borg’s leadership, together we can deliver the renewal our country needs, and appealed for people to entrust the Partit Nazzjonalista with Government in the next election.

The Deputy Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista, Alex Perici Calascione, said that the vote on 30 May will be an important one, as it will determine the type of Malta we want to live in and leave for future generations. He said that not everything in the past 13 years has been wrong, but today we live in a country where standards are slipping and values are being eroded. He said Alex Borg inspires him not only with his energy but with his love for the country and his commitment – this is the Fresh Start the Partit Nazzjonalista wants to deliver.

Charles Selvaggi said that people often tell him that change is needed – for a better environment, to reduce traffic, and to address long waiting lists. Change from a Government that neglected healthcare, and from a Government whose solution to traffic was flyovers like Msida’s, which solved nothing. He said that if residents want guarantees for a better environment in their locality, they should vote for the Partit Nazzjonalista on 30 May.

Julie Zahra spoke about the importance of safeguarding our culture and identity, as well as that of our localities. She stressed the need to protect Maltese talent, clubs, festas, and everything that distinguishes us. She said the Labour Government wasted funds instead of investing in protecting our heritage. She added that the Partit Nazzjonalista will continue working to safeguard both the natural environment and our cultural identity, and if entrusted again, she will continue working for a better Malta.

In brief remarks, the Secretary General of the Partit Nazzjonalista Charles Bonello said that a party’s duty is to listen to the people, and that this is the moment calling on everyone who believes in our country to step forward so that together, behind Alex Borg, we can deliver the change in direction that Malta needs.

The Partit Nazzjonalista continues its activities tomorrow, 1 May, with a Workers’ Day Mass Rally near the Lija Tower at 5pm.
