The Partit Nazzjonalista launches this year’s Independence celebrations, to be held between 18 and 20 September
The Partit Nazzjonalista will once again be organising its Independence celebrations at the Granaries in Floriana.
This year marks the 62nd anniversary of Malta’s Independence and, after an absence of eight years, it was fitting for the celebrations to return to their natural home, close to the area where Malta achieved Independence in 1964.
This was the message delivered by Partit Nazzjonalista Secretary General Charles Bonello when he launched this year’s celebrations during an intervention on NET Television yesterday evening. He announced that the festivities will take place over three days, between the 18th and the 20th September, with a programme designed to appeal to all ages and interests.
Alongside the political activities and discussions, the Indifest entertainment programme will once again be held every evening throughout the three days, with activities for the whole family.
The PN Secretary General explained that the programme will include musical activities, discussions and a dedicated children’s area, as well as entertainment on the main stage every evening. Food and drink stalls will also be set up across the Granaries.
The annual Independence Run, organised by Tim Sport Partit Nazzjonalista, will also take place. On the eve of Independence Day, a wreath will be laid at the foot of the Independence Monument before the day’s activities begin.
The celebrations will culminate on Sunday, 20 September, with a mass meeting addressed by PN Leader Alex Borg, followed by the raising of the Maltese flag at midnight.
