The PN calls for the flight arrangements for Maltese citizens travelling to vote to be extended to other airlines

The Partit Nazzjonalista has written officially to the Electoral Commission, calling on it to ensure that all Maltese and Gozitan citizens who work or live abroad and have the right to vote are given the possibility to exercise that right.
This follows reports that several people are finding it difficult to book flights with KM Malta Airlines to come to Malta to vote in the general election on 30 May.
In light of this, the PN has formally asked the Commission to consider extending the arrangements made with KM Malta Airlines to other airlines, so that they too may provide this opportunity to those who wish to come to Malta to vote in the general election.
The national airline announced that it is offering return flights at the special price of €90 to those eligible to vote. Bookings are open and can be made until 30 May by calling the KM Malta Airlines call centre on 2141 8118 between 8am and 8pm.
However, it appears that in recent days there have been problems getting through to the call centre, with people either failing to get through or having the line cut off while they were in the process of booking. Others were unable to find flights that suited them because these filled up immediately, and are having to look for flights from different nearby destinations.
It was in light of these complaints, which also reached the ELCOM electoral office, that the PN wrote to the Commission yesterday evening and put forward this request.
No one should be deprived of their democratic right to vote in a general election, and the Partit Nazzjonalista expects the Electoral Commission — whose duty it is to ensure that those who wish to vote are given every possible opportunity to do so — to take immediate action in this regard.
