Alex Borg confirmed as Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista with a record vote of confidence

Strong mandate of 98% of the vote; PN Leader says this is only the beginning and pledges renewal starting tomorrow

This is only the beginning. From this moment on, I want Malta to start winning.

This is not my victory alone. This is a victory for the Partit Nazzjonalista, a victory that gives hope to the Malta and Gozo of tomorrow. It is a victory that gives me the courage to work harder than ever to continue strengthening this Party.

This was the central message delivered by Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg during a speech at the PN General Council, shortly after he was confirmed as Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista with a record result of 98.2% of the vote.

Earlier, the Partit Nazzjonalista’s Electoral, Records and Data Commission announced the official result following voting held on Wednesday 8, Saturday 11 and Wednesday 15 July 2026:

YES: 1,459 votes (98.2%)

NO: 27 votes (1.8%)

The process to elect the Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista was launched during the PN General Council, which opened on 24 June, and concluded today with the closing session of the same General Council, during which the result of the three-day voting process held in both Malta and Gozo was announced.

Following the announcement of the official result by Mario Callus, Chairman of the PN Electoral Commission, the General Council concluded with an address by Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg.

During his speech, Alex Borg said that the mandate given to him by the General Council members was not simply a mandate for him to continue leading, but a mandate for the Partit Nazzjonalista to look ahead as a more united, modern, stronger Party that is closer to the people.

Alex Borg said that renewal is not a choice, but a duty. He announced that, as of tomorrow, the process to revise the Party Statute will begin, with the aim of building a more efficient and open Partit Nazzjonalista, one that is more present in local communities and capable of attracting the best talent.

He said this would be the most extensive renewal of the Party Statute ever undertaken. It would be revolutionary change, giving the Party a new structure and opening its doors wide to everyone who wants to contribute to the country.

Alex Borg thanked all those who placed their trust in him and said that he would transform this renewed confidence into responsibility and greater commitment to making the Partit Nazzjonalista a winning Party, but above all, a Party for all Maltese and Gozitan people.

The Partit Nazzjonalista Leader thanked all those who formed part of the history of this great Party in the past, as well as those who are part of its story today: MPs, officials, his team, mayors, local councillors, young people, sectional committees, employees, volunteers, General Council members, paid-up members and supporters who continued to believe in the Partit Nazzjonalista even during the most difficult times.

“I want to make a pact with all of you. Together, we must begin winning again. Because when the Partit Nazzjonalista wins, Malta and Gozo win.”

Alex Borg said that the Partit Nazzjonalista must remain focused on people’s realities, and that the people’s priorities must become the Party’s priorities.

“The future is not built on what we did yesterday, but on what we will do tomorrow. My promise to you is that I will give all my strength to making the

Partit Nazzjonalista a winning Party once again. With you by my side, I am certain that we can do it. This is only the beginning,” said Alex Borg.
