The election on 30 May will be a decisive moment in which the Maltese and Gozitan people will have the power in their hands to choose a new direction for our country.

During a political activity in Swieqi, Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg said that in those few seconds when a person casts their vote, they will be deciding not only who governs the country, but also what kind of future they want for themselves, for their family, and for Malta and Gozo.

He spoke about the future we want in transport. He referred to how traffic has become a major burden on people — on productivity, on health, and on quality of life. Many feel stressed even before they arrive at work — this should not be normal, Alex Borg said.

The PN Leader said that after years of promises by others, the Partit Nazzjonalista is determined to implement the Mass Rapid Transport project. He said that from the first day of a Nationalist Government, work will begin on this project, and within the first five years the first line will be completed.

Alex Borg said that the presentation delivered this morning by candidates Julian Borg and Adrian Delia showed what competence means: a detailed technical presentation by Julian Borg and Adrian Delia’s conviction that he would sign off on this project to make it happen. He said that the PN’s team of candidates and the team of Nationalist MEPs — who, from their end, work to ensure Malta obtains the funds it needs — show what serious planning looks like. That is the difference between a Labour Party that is tired and has given up, and a Partit Nazzjonalista that has a clear vision of where it wants to take our country.

The Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista said that this service will be free of charge for Maltese and Gozitans.

Alex Borg said that this campaign has shown everyone the vision the PN has. Just as the Partit Nazzjonalista has always known where it wants to take Malta and Gozo, today it is once again showing that it has a serious plan for our country.

He stated that a new Nationalist Government will give A Fresh Start to everyone — to young people, to the elderly, to families, to workers, and to businesses. And the plan to do this is being shown in these weeks.

On the other hand, we are seeing how others have given up and grown tired, and instead of presenting a vision, have presented only attacks and negativity.

He said that on 30 May we will have five seconds to choose whether we want more of the same or whether we want A Fresh Start for our country.

This activity was also addressed by the President of the European Parliament and Nationalist MEP Roberta Metsola, who thanked Alex Borg for succeeding in bringing back great enthusiasm among Maltese and Gozitans. She said that on 30 May, every vote cast will give direction to the country.

Roberta Metsola spoke about what should be the priorities of a modern European country. She said that the time when we accept spending whole days without electricity in summer is over.

She asked how we can be an efficient people if we spend hours stuck in traffic, and why we are still talking about serious problems in infrastructure and citizens’ safety.

Roberta Metsola said that Maltese and Gozitans deserve a health service that treats them as people, not as numbers; they deserve parks filled with trees, not concrete. Gozo must be a priority. Education must ensure that our children have suitable jobs that give them dignity. Our country must give every citizen a quality life, efficient services, and peace of mind.

“Can we do all this? We most certainly can!”

Roberta Metsola said that we will find those who try to discourage us, but this is a country we are proud of, and together as a people we will shape a better future for Malta and Gozo.

“Tomorrow is the first day of voting. The choice is in our hands. What we do with our vote will decide the Malta we want to live in over the next five years. Encourage everyone you know to vote and choose the direction they want our country to take.”

Nationalist MEPs David Casa and Peter Agius also addressed the activity.

The Head of the PN Delegation in the European Parliament, David Casa, said that he had just returned from Strasbourg, where there was a debate that poses a danger to our country, with the European Socialists seeking to tax online gaming. He said that this represents a danger to iGaming in Malta. This remains an important sector that employs thousands of people, and therefore he said he had spoken with PN Leader Alex Borg and that there is agreement that a Nationalist Government would veto this law.

David Casa said he was pleased that even the Labour Party is now welcoming the Work-Life Balance Directive, but this directive, which he drove forward in the European Parliament, was welcomed by the PN from the very beginning and embraced as its own. He said that this directive will give A Fresh Start to people and families.

The Nationalist MEP said that after the PN has Roberta Metsola leading the European Parliament, Malta will now have a capable Prime Minister who truly deserves to lead this country, and his name is Alex Borg.

For his part, Member of the European Parliament Peter Agius expressed his emotion at the turnout for the Partit Nazzjonalista’s activities. He said that every day many people ask him: “Do we have a chance?” “Yes, we have a chance. We have a chance to remove the worries of cancer patients, a chance to remove the anxiety of young people who want to buy their own home, a chance to eliminate the concerns of parents through the removal of succession tax.”

He said that today the choice before us is between A Fresh Start and more of the same. He referred to the seriousness of the PN’s plan for mass transport. He said that this plan provides an answer to Clyde Caruana because this project will be done, and it will also be done with the help of European funds. He said he has long been working to secure funds for this project, and that not only will we implement this project, but a Nationalist Government will deliver what it promised and give A Fresh Start to Malta and Gozo.

Also present for this activity were PN candidates on the ninth district Joe Aquilina, Graziella Attard Previ, Graham Bencini, Eve Borg Bonello, Albert Buttigieg, James Aaron Ellul, Beppe Fenech Adami, Marilena Gauci, Joseph Giglio, Jonathan Muscat, Noel Muscat, Alex Perici Calascione, Charles Selvaggi and Julie Zahra.

The Partit Nazzjonalista’s activities for this campaign will continue tomorrow, Saturday, with a fundraising marathon starting at 2pm and broadcast live on NET TV.

In the evening, at 6pm, another political activity will be held in Gozo, this time in Nadur.
