A Nationalist Government will work with everyone to increase prosperity for all Maltese and Gozitans

“Let us believe again. Believe that change is possible. Believe that Malta can breathe again. This is our moment.”

In Fgura, PN Leader Alex Borg says change is possible because the PN has a prepared team and achievable solutions

“Let us believe again. Believe that change is possible. Believe that Malta can breathe again. This is our moment.”

These were the words of Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg at the end of a political activity held this morning in Fgura, during which the various proposals being presented by the PN to the electorate in its electoral programme for next Saturday’s general election were discussed.

The PN Leader said that the Partit Nazzjonalista’s electoral programme is built on a clear political vision that addresses the challenges facing the country and offers solutions in every sector and sphere of national life.

Alex Borg said that every government does both good and bad. He stressed that the Partit Nazzjonalista wants to build on what has been done well and fix what is wrong and what the people are currently facing. The Partit Nazzjonalista, Alex Borg said, will work to eradicate the scourge of the rising cost of living, particularly for those who strive and work the hardest, including people living alone. He pledged that, through a restructuring of income tax, the Partit Nazzjonalista will guarantee that workers will have at least €1,200 more left in their pockets. He said that tax cuts will also apply to the self-employed and companies, because this translates into more investment in our country.

The PN Leader also referred to how the electoral programme will strengthen social justice in Malta. He said this is most clearly reflected in the proposal to fully remove succession tax. Alex Borg was also clear that a Nationalist Government will not introduce any additional tax in cases of Causa Mortis.

Alex Borg also spoke about what distinguishes the Partit Nazzjonalista from the other parties, particularly in the way it will address the country’s greatest challenges: population growth and traffic. The Nationalist Leader said that the plans are well studied and based on facts. On traffic, Alex Borg stressed that there is no longer time for more studies, as the Labour Party is proposing, but that the Nationalist Mass Rapid Transport project will begin immediately, with its first phase completed within five years. He also pledged a sustainable solution to population growth. This will include a three-year plan with population forecasts and clear quotas for the issuing of work and residence permits, together with a ten-year National Capacity Plan establishing clear population targets and taking into account the impact on infrastructure, accommodation, public services, the environment and quality of life.

During the dialogue, the PN Leader also pledged that a new Nationalist Government would be transparent with the people by publishing his own declaration of assets as Prime Minister and those of the entire Cabinet, unlike what Robert Abela has done and wants to continue doing.

Also speaking at this morning’s activity were PN Secretary General Charles Bonello, PN candidate Julian Borg, who focused on the mass transport system announced this week, Professor Maryanne Lauri, who spoke about the education proposals, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant Mr Mark Formosa, who focused on the health proposals.

Charles Bonello thanked everyone who contributed to yesterday’s fundraising marathon, during which the Partit Nazzjonalista raised more than €643,000, adding to the €1 million raised two weeks ago, for a record total of €1,649,584. He said that, on 30 May, the people will choose the destiny of our country. He urged everyone to go after every vote so that, this time next week, our country will have a fresh start.

Professor Maryanne Lauri said that Maltese and Gozitan students deserve a proper environment that helps them love their educational journey. “That is why the Partit Nazzjonalista wants to embellish and modernise existing schools; build a new school every year according to student numbers in localities; and offer students modern facilities in sport and the arts,” Professor Lauri said. She praised the proposal to open a National Secondary School specialising in STEAM in Malta, offering an advanced curriculum based on research, problem-solving and real-life projects in areas such as robotics, coding, data science, bioengineering and creative design.

Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant Mr Mark Formosa said that Malta and Gozo need four new hospitals because healthcare must begin with a better experience, through an efficient and timely service. He said that new hospitals would ease the immense pressure currently being felt and ensure that the Maltese and Gozitan people are much better served.

Candidate Julian Borg spoke about the proposed Mass Rapid Transport project, which he said will solve the Labour Party’s failure in traffic management. Malta and Gozo, Perit Borg said, cannot continue spending more years stuck in traffic. Julian Borg said that the underground system being proposed by the Partit Nazzjonalista offers a fresh start, with the first 11.5-kilometre line to be completed in the first five years, before being extended in the second legislature. Julian Borg said that the Partit Nazzjonalista is not afraid of difficulties and has all the competence needed to solve the problems created by others. He said that the Mass Rapid Transport project is based on a complete ecosystem that includes a number of hubs and feeders leading people to the promised route. He concluded by saying that the Partit Nazzjonalista is being innovative and, for the first time, is offering a real fresh start in this sector.

Following this morning’s activity in Fgura, the PN’s A Fresh Start electoral campaign continues this evening with a Mass Meeting in Dingli Street, Sliema, starting at 5pm.
