PN Leader Alex Borg welcomes children’s proposals for a better environment; encourages them to continue shaping the Malta they want

The proposals being put forward by these young students show how, even from a young age, they understand what matters most for us to live not only healthier lives, but also more sustainable ones within today’s realities.

This morning, the Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista, Alex Borg, welcomed to Dar Ċentrali a group of students from three different schools, who presented him with children’s proposals for the environment.

These proposals were gathered following a children’s summit in which around 150 children from 30 schools, all members of EkoSkola, took part. EkoSkola is the programme run in schools by Nature Trust-FEE Malta. The proposals were brought together in one document and are being presented to the country’s leaders so that, when they are shaping policy for our islands, they also take into account what children think.

The children’s proposals in this document, which very much resembles an electoral programme, include themes such as the physical environment and open spaces, traffic, cycling infrastructure, bullying, the use of AI, green buildings and schools, inclusive environments for neurodivergent persons both in schools and at the workplace, multisensory rooms in schools, zones and hubs for young people, and more.

The children appealed for the adults in leadership to take their proposals into consideration and work towards a Malta that is more humane, inclusive, sustainable and safe.

The Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista expressed his appreciation for the work carried out by these students and said that the proposals they were presenting reflect today’s realities very well, and are also well reflected in the proposals prepared by him and the team that drew up the Partit Nazzjonalista’s electoral programme.

Among others, he mentioned the PN’s proposal for Green Schools, a multisensory room in every school as well as a calming room on Gozo ferries, traffic solutions through the mass transport project and the proposal to reward those who use their car less, investment in the AI sector, the proposal for more suitable spaces for young people, and more open spaces where children can play and rest.

He encouraged the students to continue with their good work and to keep speaking up for the Malta they want to live in, both now during their childhood and later on when they grow up.

“You are the generation that will lead Malta in the years to come. We have an obligation and a responsibility to listen to you. Keep speaking to us so that, together, we can shape the Malta you deserve.”

The students were accompanied by their teachers and by Vincent Attard, President of Nature Trust-FEE Malta.

Also present for this meeting was Partit Nazzjonalista candidate Rebekah Borg.
