PN Leader Alex Borg at the Extraordinary General Council: “This is a programme for your lives, your families and the future of your children”; the PN presents an electoral programme built on 16 pillars with 1,000 proposals that will give the nation A Fresh Start
This is an electoral campaign with one clear aim – to give this nation A Fresh Start. The electoral programme we are presenting this evening is not merely a political document, and not simply a programme for an election, but a programme through which the Partit Nazzjonalista wants to plan for people’s future and deliver A Fresh Start for the whole country.
During this evening’s Extraordinary General Council, during which PN councillors approved the electoral programme for the general election of 30 May, Alex Borg explained how the electoral programme being presented by the PN contains 1,000 proposals that came from the people and are aimed at the people. It is a programme built by a whole team of people – candidates, experts, professionals and people from all walks of life – based on 16 important pillars:
- Economy
- The Private Sector
- Tax Cuts
- Health and Sport
- Education and Skills
- Social Policy
- Young People
- Mobility, Infrastructure and Planning
- Energy and Water
- Gozo
- Tourism
- Culture and the Arts
- Environment
- Agriculture and Fisheries
- Governance
- Malta in the World
“This electoral programme is a contract that the Partit Nazzjonalista is making with the people. A programme that caters for everyone, and we are determined to implement it. Through this programme, we want to strengthen and protect everything that makes us Maltese and Gozitan – our identity,” said Alex Borg.
The PN Leader continued that there are still many workers who, no matter how hard they work, cannot make ends meet and move forward. Through its proposals, the PN wants to give a boost to those who feel they cannot progress: through tax cuts, lower electricity bills and the complete removal of succession tax. All this, said the PN Leader, is nothing less than social justice.
“We want you to move forward. If you work hard, you should be rewarded.”
He also spoke about the major investment a new Nationalist Government wants to make – both in care, including by providing cancer medicines free of charge and building new hospitals for both physical and mental health, as well as through strong investment in prevention.
He stressed that, apart from investment in health, a new Nationalist Government will invest properly in education and students, with a 25% increase in stipends, better schools and investment in educators.
Gozo and Gozitans will no longer be an afterthought, but will become a priority, and a Nationalist Government will ensure that they are no longer treated as though they are second class.

Young people will have the opportunity to become homeowners through strong support from a Nationalist Government, both for the deposit and for the first 10 years of the loan. “We will not leave young people on their own.”
A Nationalist Government will not leave everyone stuck in traffic. “We will start implementing the mass transport project immediately and, within five years, complete the first and largest line of this project.”
Elderly people will be able to use the services of their family doctor free of charge in their own homes and will benefit from an increase of €650 a year so that they can live better.
The Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista said that a Nationalist Government will be the government of the whole nation.
“The hour of the Maltese has arrived. The time has come for everyone to rise and say: This is my moment. This is the moment of a new generation. This is the moment to give our country A Fresh Start.”

The President of the General Council, Mark Anthony Sammut, who opened the General Council, presented the electoral programme for the approval of councillors at an important moment for the Partit Nazzjonalista and for the country.
In his speech, he said that the Partit Nazzjonalista has great aspirations for Malta and Gozo and for the whole people, and wants to turn this dream into reality if, on 30 May, the people give it their trust to lead the country for the next five years. He stressed that this programme reflects the vision of a party that is looking ahead and presenting itself as the serious alternative to lead Malta and Gozo.
Mark Anthony Sammut said that the approval of the electoral programme is another step on the road towards change that can give the people new hope. This comes at a time when the Labour Party has nothing more to propose. It has nothing new and nothing innovative left, and this was clear from the campaign of attacks and negativity led by Labour. He said that the Partit Nazzjonalista is not only ready, but also determined, from 30 May onwards, to start leading our country in a new direction that gives A Fresh Start to the Maltese and Gozitan people.

During the General Council, George Vital Zammit, who coordinated the A Fresh Start Electoral Programme, said that this is a plan for change, a plan for direction and a plan for delivery. He explained that this programme was not born in a closed room, but through a broad process of consultation with families, workers, young people, elderly people, the self-employed, SMEs, professionals, experts, organisations and communities. From these consultations came the proposals, shaped precisely by those who will be affected by them and by experts.
George Vital Zammit said that the Partit Nazzjonalista listened to the people and is therefore presenting a programme that responds to their real needs: an economy that rewards work, less bureaucracy, more time for families, a future for young people, modern education, a transport system that gives people back their time, investment in health, better care for elderly people, an environment that allows people to breathe, and governance built on seriousness, accountability and delivery.

The Secretary General of the Partit Nazzjonalista Charles Bonello said that the election of 30 May is not merely a choice between political parties, but a serious choice about what kind of Malta we want to build together over the next five years. He said that the electoral programme being presented by the Partit Nazzjonalista is the document that helps every Maltese and Gozitan person make an informed choice about the direction they want to give their country. He addressed those who in the past voted for the Labour Party and today are losing faith in it, stressing that the door of the Partit Nazzjonalista is open to everyone.
Charles Bonello thanked George Vital Zammit and all those who worked to draw up well-studied proposals that address people’s needs so they can have a better standard of living. The PN Secretary General said that the Partit Nazzjonalista is offering solutions to the chaos created by the Labour Government, with measures that ease the burdens on families, young people, elderly people, small businesses, Gozo, health, education, the economy, voluntary organisations and communities, as well as measures that protect animals. He said that this is a moment of hope for our country and that nothing and no one will discourage the Partit Nazzjonalista. He appealed to those who believe in the PN to help deliver the message to those who are still undecided. Together, we must continue convincing people until the very last hour. This is the moment for Malta to change direction under the leadership of Alex Borg as Prime Minister.

The Deputy Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista Alex Perici Calascione said that an election is not a party moment, but a national moment. A Fresh Start is not a slogan, but a message of hope. Hope, however, must be shaped and delivered with the determination of where we can take Malta and Gozo through seriousness and integrity. He stressed that every vote, and every choice made, will have consequences for the whole of Malta from 1 June onwards. Therefore, the people face a serious choice between the continuity of what is burdening the country and change that gives a new direction.
Alex Perici Calascione said that the A Fresh Start electoral programme is a clear plan for our country, shaped by many people, families, experts and people from different sectors whom the Partit Nazzjonalista met. He said that every proposal in the electoral programme is a plan, every plan is a commitment, and every commitment is a contract made by Alex Borg and the entire Partit Nazzjonalista with the Maltese and Gozitan people. He stressed that the Partit Nazzjonalista does not promise perfection, but offers determination, seriousness, competence and integrity so that our country can rediscover renewed ambition.
Alex Perici Calascione ended with this message: “This is not just a vote, but a battle for the soul of our country. Let us together write a new page for our country.”
