PN Leader accepts invitation from Swieqi Local Council to meet residents

Alex Borg has already taken a clear and immediate position on this situation. During a visit to Swieqi last week, he said that these problems are a symptom of a Government that has left Local Councils alone to bear the consequences of its policies, without the necessary powers and resources.

Alex Borg will continue listening to people and insisting on concrete action to protect their quality of life

The Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg has accepted the invitation from the Swieqi Local Council to visit the locality, meet the Council and hear directly from residents about the serious challenges they face every day.

In its invitation to both the Leader of the Opposition and the Prime Minister to urgently visit the locality and meet residents and councillors, the Council explained how residents are being affected by excessive noise, vandalism, illegal waste disposal, disregard for regulations and other disturbances linked, among other things, to the uncontrolled operation of some short lets.

Alex Borg has already taken a clear and immediate position on this situation. During a visit to Swieqi last week, he said that these problems are a symptom of a Government that has left Local Councils alone to bear the consequences of its policies, without the necessary powers and resources.

He also stressed that tourism is important for our country, but it cannot be allowed to grow at the expense of residents’ quality of life. The Government’s priority must be to ensure that families can live in their homes in peace, dignity and safety.

The Partit Nazzjonalista continues to be physically present among the people, listening to the realities they face and insisting on effective enforcement, more resources for the Police and Local Councils being given the powers they need to protect residents.
