After Government spends money on parking area at St Thomas Bay, it realises the area is private

After it became clear that the Government carried out works on an area it believed to be public property, which is now turning out to be occupied by private interests, the local councillors of the Partit Nazzjonalista in Marsaskala are insisting that the parking area in the Fajtata area, on the side of St Thomas Bay in Marsaskala, should remain a public car park and should remain free of charge throughout the whole week, including weekends.

The Partit Nazzjonalista insists that Government must find a solution in the interest of Marsaskala residents

The Partit Nazzjonalista also understands that contractual obligations may exist over the site, granting rights over the same area to private individuals or entities.

The Government therefore has a duty to ensure that it takes all necessary measures in the public interest to secure title over the said area, while at the same time ensuring that whoever is entitled to compensation is duly compensated, with full respect for the laws of our country.

The PN councillors in Marsaskala are committed to continuing their work to ensure that this car park remains free of charge for Marsaskala residents and for all those who frequent the area, without any inconvenience or obstacles.

The local councillors of the Partit Nazzjonalista firmly believe that their locality should have public spaces intended for free use by the general public, and insist that it is unacceptable that, before the last general election, promises were made to Marsaskala residents which may now turn out to have been nothing more than empty pre-election promises.
