PN Leader Alex Borg meets the Malta Women’s Lobby; discussions focus on the need for measures that give women more space, time and strength to build a more resilient society
As the Opposition, we will continue to insist on the implementation of measures to improve work-life balance. We must ensure that women truly have equal opportunities if we are to build a stronger society.
During a meeting with the Malta Women’s Lobby, as part of a series of pre-budget meetings, Opposition and Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg said that the PN would continue working on measures that give families more time, such as remote working. He also stressed the need for further discussion on a shorter working week.
Alex Borg also spoke about the need for further measures to prevent domestic violence and provide support to those affected, as well as specialised training to assist magistrates dealing with highly sensitive family cases.

Representatives of the Malta Women’s Lobby highlighted that Malta ranks 16th in the European Union in the Gender Equality Index and that much remains to be done to improve this position. They spoke about the challenges faced by hundreds of single mothers raising their children on the brink of poverty, as well as women who face homelessness if they leave a situation of domestic violence.
Also present at the meeting were Shadow Minister for Inclusion Graziella Galea and PN Spokesperson for Social Cohesion Miriana Calleja Testaferrata De Noto.
The meeting took place at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition in Valletta.
