Key Proposals for Businesses

We will reduce tax for Maltese businesses

We will reduce the tax rate for micro-enterprises from 35% to 15%. We will reduce the tax rate for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 35% to 25%.

We will remove succession tax on family businesses

Stamp duty on the transfer of businesses passed on through inheritance will be removed.

We will reduce personal income tax for workers and the self-employed

We want workers to keep more money in their pockets so that work starts paying well again.
The income threshold from which tax starts being paid will be raised, and tax bands will be widened so that more workers and self-employed people pay less tax.

We will also discuss reducing the maximum tax rate: for greater competitiveness

When the PN was in government, it reduced the maximum rate from 65% to 35%. We will immediately begin consultation with stakeholders on the possibility of lowering the maximum rate again, thereby strengthening competitiveness.

A higher VAT exemption

The VAT exemption threshold will increase from €35,000 per year to €70,000, so that more businesses can choose whether or not to remain in the VAT system.

Economy

We will create new economic sectors related to Data, AI and New Space

We will reduce the VAT rate for restaurants from 18% to 7%

To make the catering sector more competitive compared with other destinations in the Mediterranean, we will harmonise the rates applicable to the sector, help the sector become more sustainable, and ensure that consumers can also benefit.

We will provide training for workers, 100% financed

Training for worker skilling and re-skilling provided by employers will be 100% financed.
